Plastic Washers

Plastic washers are thin, disk shape, holed plate made of plastic. It is required to evenly distribute pressure or load from a threaded fastener such as nuts or bolts to reduce the chance of damage. Plastic washers may also serve as a spacer to provide a smooth surface for nuts and bolts to be held and locked in place to avoid getting loosen as a result of uneven surface. Some washers are also used to prevent corrosion and abrasion. Other uses include as bushings, bearings, glides and rollers.

The nut and bolt that is too small for the hole for the plastic washer or other washer should not be attempted. It will not be as secured as using the proper size for both plastic washer and bolts or nuts. Also, don't tighten and force bolts that is too long using plastic washers, doing so can lead to damage or injury.

Washers in a sense are materials placed between two surfaces that is subject to rotational friction and is used to relieve friction and prevent lateral motion meaning to hold it fixed in its place.

Use plastic washers where necessary or required and never on which it will not be suitable. Improper use can cause the nuts and bolts to loosen. This may be due to plastic washer being deformed or stretched under heavy load. They can also be affected by intense heat which can lead to loosening the plastic washers.
